Description
Although James A. Garfield grew up to become a Civil War hero and a reformist congressman, he was not interested in being President. But, nominated against his will, he took on the corrupt political establishment, which undoubtedly resulted in his being shot. This is the story of that time in history, of the archaic medical treatment, and of the inventor who tried to save him.
